WHERE WE ARE
Enoteca Italiana Siena is located inside the Fortezza Medicea, in the Bastioni San Francesco and San Filippo near the historic center of the city. The fortress was built on a pre-existing destroyed building and the works were commissioned by Cosimo I dei Medici to the architect of Urbino Baldassarre Lanci from 1561 and finished in 1563. The Medici Fortress, with a quadrangular plan, has four pentagonal bastions, facing towards the cardinal points and still retaining the coats of arms of the Medici family. From a fortified fortress, the Fortezza has become over the centuries a place of peace and tranquility in the heart of the city and home to many events, as well as home of Enoteca Italiana Siena.
